Geeky Fun With An LCD Monitor

You probably have never noticed, but your monitor is made up of these elusive little pixels. They consist of Red, Green, and Blue lights of sorts that make up all the colors and shapes your monitor ever shows. Here is an example:

Believe it or not, what you see above is actually WHITE when you view it on your monitor. Go grab a loupe and put it up to a white part of the monitor and you'll see this very thing. There's a pretty little chart floating somewhere around this site, which is missing a decent explanation I might add, but it hints at what's going on here. Basically it's this: magic. And for those curious, this is taken from an Apple iMac 24" monitor.

Now on to the fun part. See if you can guess what these colors are.

Color 1

is really.....

....this horrible greyish green color.

Color 2

3.......2......1.......

PINK.

Color 3

a) green, b) brownish orange , c) clear, d) purple, e) all of the above

this pretty blue.
